The next five blogs will focus on making our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual selves healthy and strong.  The idea behind this principle, as stated in previous blogs, is that if we do not take care of ourselves we cannot help anybody else.  In a way we require a degree of selfishness.  This selfishness allows us to be selfless later as we give of ourselves to help raise up others.  In the end, it is all about balance.  Too much selfishness is destructive as well as too much selflessness.

Scene Safety – Placing the Self First


A few years ago I left the teaching profession.  My wife was going to graduate school in another state and I used that as an excuse to try my luck at another profession.  So I tried becoming an EMT.  I only spent a year doing this as I found that my true calling, like it or not, was in education.  Since then I’ve embraced my calling and have not looked back.
